A/N: As I’m wrapping up 2023, I’m also reflecting on this substack. I want to ensure I'm creating something I’m excited about and feels meaningful for y’all. If there’s something you want more of, let me know.
We put a lot of emotional pressure on the holidays. It’s this time of big food, big family gatherings, and often it can bring up well… big drama. It’s easy for two people in a conflict to have two completely different experiences of what happened. This December 26th? We’re seeing that bifurcation play out in the stars.
People with big cardinal energy (Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn) will notice the emotional and physical abundance. They’ll notice the full moon as our traditions (Capricorn), can highlight connection (Cancer). There's also a grounded abundance with Jupiter in Taurus supporting this full moon. It can feel like a favorite pie or a fantastic fleece blanket.
At the same time, those with more mutable energy (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) will notice the tension. Mercury (still retrograde) is back in Sagittarius and will be close to Mars this full moon. It’s not just a case of miscommunication but also our tech and communication becoming the weapon. Kids may chant the song about only sticks and stones breaking bones. Too many of us know how words can leave lasting wounds.
It only gets more confusing because Neptune squares Mars and Mercury. This brings fog, delusion and frankly misinformation. Many people may be questioning what’s real and what’s our dreams or nightmares. It may not get clear until Mercury goes direct on January 2nd.
How to navigate this tension?
There are a few tips and tricks up my sleeve anyone can use.
Remember what’s going on
Wondering why no one else is upset? Or feeling frustrated that everyone else seems just fine? Remember, y’all are experiencing different parts of the astrology.
Slow it down
This Mars and Mercury combo can get you to go too quickly. In this time, it’s better to slow down. Clarify, ask questions. You may still decide to take up Mars fighting mantle. Just make sure you know what you’re fighting for.
Reflect on traditions
Full moons are a always a great time to review and release. This one focuses on reviewing which traditions support us emotionally. What about tradition makes you feel seen, cared for? What traditions feel heavy and unsupportive? Letting go of what no longer works can help you have space for what you need.
Whatever your traditions or holidays, I hope you connect with people you love and have a wonderful new year.
