I won’t lie to you: This will not be an easy eclipse season. Eclipses are generally chaotic. If there’s any keyword I use for them it’s big beginnings and big endings. This time around, we also happen to have mercury in the shadow of it’s retrograde, aka in the first act before mercury retrogrades with the second eclipse in Aries (more on that next time).
Tomorrow’s eclipse is a Libra lunar eclipse, aka big ending energy. Add the south node in Libra and we are ending a chapter of release. Want to know what might be ending? Look back to what you started about six months ago, right around October 14th 2023 (last Libra eclipse).
I wish I could have a clearer story for you. The truth is eclipses are game changers, full of confusion, and surprises. I find that it pulls the rug out from under our feet, sometimes for something better. For now, here’s some music to get you through.
I’d rather go blind
We start with a powerhouse Libra rising, Etta James, wishing she was blind rather than seeing her partner walk away. We’re not always ready for endings, but like eclipses, they can come regardless.
Dancing in the dark
With a Libra stellium and an Aries north node, I had to include Bruce Springsteen in this playlist. Eclipses break and interrupt the light. The heaviness, confusion, and the feeling of groping in the dark is often how eclipses feel (after all they interrupt the light). Maybe with Bruce, we can find a way to dance through it.
Bad moon rising
Okay don’t the lyrics on this one too literally. What I will say, don’t do intentional ritual unless you really know what you’re doing. Frankly, eclipses will change your life/open you up, no ritual required.
Magical rituals are often about trying to use/align with the energy of the moment. Eclipse energy is chaotic and hard to work with. Unless you know what you’re doing, in can imbue a lot of chaotic and difficult energy whether in your crystals, or your intentions.
Whatever you do, don’t say I didn’t warn ya.
Desperado
Sometimes, not all release is so bad or hard. In this song, there’s a real opportunity for what change can do. Kelly Surtees, a brilliant astrologer once said that we can only grab onto something new by letting something else go. This song reminds me that by letting go, I can let something new in.
Whatever happens, I hope you can find some peace and ease through this season.
